Three Aggie Women’s Basketball Players Taken in WNBA Draft

NEW YORK – Texas A&M women’s basketball’s Aaliyah Wilson was drafted by the Seattle Storm with the No. 11 pick in the first round of the 2021 WNBA Draft on Thursday evening. Wilson was then traded to the Indiana Fever on a draft-night trade.

Wilson becomes the 15th WNBA draftee in program history, and the 14th under head coach Gary Blair. The Muskogee, Oklahoma, native is the second Aggie to be drafted by the Seattle Storm. She is the third player in program history to be selected in the first round.

Wilson was named an All-American by the Associated Press, and earned All-SEC Second Team recognition this season. The Aggie led the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game, while hauling in 5.9 rebounds per contest as a guard.

The All-American also led the team in steals (51) and blocks (24). She scored a career-high 27 points versus the Arkansas Razorbacks to give her the first SEC Player of the Week honor of her career on Jan. 13, 2021.

NEW YORK – Texas A&M women’s basketball’s N’dea Jones was drafted by the Seattle Storm with the No. 23 pick in the second round of the 2021 WNBA Draft on Thursday evening.

Jones becomes the 16th WNBA draftee in program history, and the 15th under head coach Gary Blair. The Lawrenceville, Georgia, native is the third Aggie to be drafted by the Seattle Storm.

Jones was named an All-American by three different outlets this season, and earned her second-straight All-SEC First Team selection. The Aggie averaged a double-double with 12.1 points and 10.3 rebounds per game for the second-consecutive year.

The All-American is A&M’s all-time leader in rebounds (1,056) and double-doubles (41). Jones is the only player in program history to have scored over 950 points and grabbed more than 1,000 rebounds in their career. She finished her time in Aggieland with the second-highest rebounding average ever (9.2).

NEW YORK – Texas A&M women’s basketball’s Ciera Johnson was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury with the No. 32 pick in the third round of the 2021 WNBA Draft on Thursday evening.

Johnson becomes the 17th WNBA draftee in program history, and the 16th under head coach Gary Blair. The Duncanville, Texas, native is the first Aggie to be drafted by the Phoenix Mercury.

Johnson is the third Aggie to be selected in the 2021 WNBA Draft, joining Aaliyah Wilson and N’dea Jones who were taken with the No. 11 and No. 23 picks, respectively. This is the first time in program history that three Aggies have been picked in the same draft.

The 2020-21 team captain led A&M to its first Regular Season SEC Championship in program history. Johnson averaged 10.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game this past season, while shooting 54.4% from the floor. The Aggie became the first program’s first ever SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for her impact not only on the court, but in the classroom and in Aggieland.

Johnson finished her career third in double-doubles (22), sixth in field-goal percentage (53%) and was the 33rd member of the 1,000-point club for the Aggies.
