Three Aggie Men Selected to Compete at NCAA Individual Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The seventh-ranked doubles team and one singles player will represent the No. 3 Texas A&M men’s tennis team at the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship in late May in Waco, Texas, the NCAA announced Wednesday evening. Juniors Harrison Adams and Shane Vinsant were named to the NCAA doubles field, while senior Jeremy Efferding will represent the Aggies in the singles bracket.

The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 20-25 at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas, following the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 14-19. Baylor University will serve as host.

Adams and Vinsant are making their first appearance in the NCAA doubles field; both competed in the singles bracket in 2014. Vinsant earned All-American honors after advancing to the Round of 16 a season ago. The junior tandem of Vinsant and Adams rank No. 7 in the ITA doubles poll after tallying 16 wins this year. The duo was an impressive 11-3 against ranked duos, including an unheard of 5-1 ledger against top-5 tandems this season.

Efferding went an impressive 5-0 against league opponents this season to earn All-SEC honors. The senior finished with 10 dual wins this spring in singles competition to bring his career wins total to 94, the most on the Aggie roster. The righty moved up to No. 48 in the latest ITA Singles rankings after earning SEC Tournament MVP honors last weekend due to his championship clinching win over No. 29 Austin Smith of Georgia. Efferding returns to the NCAA Singles field as a senior after missing out his junior season, he was upset in the round of 64 as a sophomore in 2013.

Texas A&M will be back in action on Friday, May 9, when it hosts Eastern Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Stay tuned to AggieAthletics.com and follow @AggieMTEN on Twitter to stay up to date with the Aggies in the postseason.
