COLLEGE STATION- Texas A&M women’s golf announced its 2017-18 schedule Thursday, with four tournaments in the state of Texas and two more in Oklahoma.
“This is a schedule that will prepare our young team for postseason play,” said Texas A&M head coach Trelle McCombs. “These tournaments all have competitive fields, and are held on some fantastic golf courses. This will test our freshmen early as we make a push to an 18th straight appearance in the NCAA Regionals”
The Aggies kick off the season in Ardmore, Okla., competing at Dornick Hill Golf and Country Club in the Oral Roberts tournament from Sept. 1-3. The Aggies return to the Schooner Fall Classic for the fifth straight year on Sept. 23-25 in Norman, Okla. at Belmar Golf Club.
Texas A&M closes out the fall with three October tournaments in the state of Texas. The Aggies go to the Jim West Classic on October 8-9 at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, followed by the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational in San Antonio on Oct. 22-24.
The Trinity Forest Invitational presented by Vic Salvino, held at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, home of the PGA’s Byron Nelson Invitational, on October 30-31 wraps up the fall season. Bianca Fabrizio, who was a senior at Texas A&M last season, won the rain-shortened event in 2016.
The Aggies open the spring with their sixth straight trip to the Florida State Match-Up, Feb. 9-11. Texas A&M then heads back to The Woodlands and The Woodlands Country Club’s Tournament Course for The Dickson, hosted by Houston.
Texas A&M then looks for its third consecutive first place team finish at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, at the Kane’ohe Klipper Golf Course in Kane’ohe, Hawai’i. The Aggies have finished first in five of their six appearances at the Dr. Donnis Thompson, and finished second in the other appearance.
The Clemson Invitational rounds out the regular season for Texas A&M, as the Aggies make their third straight appearance at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C.
The SEC Championship runs April 18-22 at Greystone Golf & Country Club in Hoover, Ala., with a new match-play format. The top eight teams after 54 holes of stroke play face off in a match-play format, mirroring that of the NCAA Championships.
Should the Aggies advance to the NCAA Regionals for the 18th straight year, their postseason begins May 7-9 at one of four regional sites. Stanford, Texas, Wisconsin and Florida State are host schools for regional play. The NCAA Championships are May 18-23 in Stillwater, Okla. at Karsten Creek Golf Club.
