Texas Task Force 1 Director Resigns As Investigation Continues

Bob McKee

Three weeks after being placed on administrative leave, Bob McKee has left the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).

McKee was suspended March 12 following an anonymous complaint to the Texas A&M University System’s EthicsPoint service.

McKee, who had been with TEEX since 2002, was the director of Texas Task Force 1 and the Disaster Preparedness and Response division.

TEEX spokesman Brian Blake, citing the continuing investigation, did not disclose the nature of the complaint, whether the complaint led to McKee’s resignation, and if the allegations have led to any operational changes at the agency.

Billy Parker will continue as interim director until a final decision is made on the future management of the two departments.

Brian Blake visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.

From a TEEX news release, McKee said, “My first priority has always been serving the citizens of the State of Texas and the nation and that to that end, I offer my resignation. He continued, “I will always be proud of my association with TEEX and the task force.  I’m taking this action, after lengthy consideration, so both the agency and I can move forward.”

Also from the TEEX news release, Chief Executive Officer, Gary Sera said, “The agency will consider a full range of options for future management. We appreciate Bob’s commitment to TEEX and TX TF-1 and wish him all the best in future endeavors,” Sera added.
