Texas Man Gets Mistrial in RNC Threat Trial

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ A Texas man accused of possessing Molotov cocktails during the Republican National Convention in St. Paul will get a new trial.

The jury deciding David Guy McKay’s case announced Monday it was deadlocked.

U.S. District Judge Michael Davis declared a mistrial, and set a new trial date of March 16. Davis said he’ll release McKay on a $25,000 bond and allow him to return to Texas. McKay has been in jail since his September arrest.

Prosecutors allege the Davis, 23, was part of an Austin-based group that planned to use incendiary devices to destroy property or injure police during the convention.

McKay has maintained his innocence.

A man charged with him, Bradley Neal Crowder, has pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting possession of an unregistered firearm. A sentencing date for Crowder has not been set.

The convention was held Sept. 1-4 at the Xcel Energy Center.
