The company developing the high speed railroad through the Brazos Valley says they have cleared another federal hurdle. Texas Central says the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has granted a rule which will regulate the railroad’s system and operations. Texas Central says they are also on schedule to have the FRA approve a safety rule and its environmental permit next year. That will be followed by a financial close and the start of construction.
Opponents say Texas Central got an unprecedented approval from the FRA. Texans Against High Speed Rail’s chairman posted on the organization’s Facebook page that it’s the first time this has happened in the 52 year history of the federal agency….and it should be of great concern to Texas citizens and all U.S. taxpayers. Kyle Workman added Texas Central now has to go through a lengthy rule making process. Workman warns that the FRA could give a monopoly to Texas Central’s Japanese technology, something he says the entire rail industry will oppose.
