For the ninth consecutive year, News/Talk 1620 WTAW has received the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters (TAPB) Radio Excellence Award. It’s an honor that includes all radio markets regardless of population.
That was one of two additional awards WTAW received Saturday night at the annual TAPB awards banquet in San Antonio.
Infomaniacs co-host and news reporter Chelsea Reber received the TAPB’s Best Newscast award among radio stations in Division B. That covers the state except for the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin markets.
During the TAPB board’s business meeting that preceded the banquet, WTAW News Director Bill Oliver was re-elected TAPB radio vice-president.

Eight voices on News/Talk 1620 WTAW will be recognized later this spring by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters.
Scott Delucia, Chelsea Reber, Zach Taylor, Brad Mitchell, Bill Oliver, Tom Turbiville, Mike Wright, and Mark Green combined for 25 awards for last year’s news and sports coverage in the TAPB division that covers the state except for Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin.
WTAW is also a finalist for best radio newscast, which will be announced at the awards banquet later this year.
