Texas A&M’s Cain Engineering Building Evacuated From A Wednesday Afternoon Fire

Firefighters from College Station and Bryan were on the Texas A&M campus Wednesday afternoon taking care of fire and smoke in the Cain engineering building.

College Station fire department division chief Greg Rodgers reported the cause of the fire was a 3-D printer in a third floor room.

Fire damage was contained to cabinets and duct work.

The fire caused an evacuation of the building. No injuries were reported.

According to CSFD’s Twitter account, firefighters were at the scene for almost four hours…from shortly after 3 p.m. until almost 7 p.m. More than half the time was taken clearing smoke and checking the rest of the building for fire.

According to A&M associate vice president Kelly Brown, the building was reopened except for the third floor at 5:45 p.m.

Smoke and fire damage will have to be cleaned up before the third floor reopens. Arrangements have not been finalized due to the holiday weekend.
