Texas A&M Women’s Golf Players Earn WGCA All-America Honors

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

Texas A&M’s Vanessa Borovilos and Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio earned Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-America honors Tuesday, the organization announced.

Borovilos became just the fourth golfer in program history to receive WGCA First Team All-America status, joining Ashley Knoll (2006), Maddie Szeryk (2017, 2018) and Adela Cernousek (2024). The sophomore recorded the second lowest stroke average in program history this year at 71.04 and was also an ANNIKA Award Finalist.

Borovilos ended the season ranked No. 13 on the Clippd Individual Rankings and No. 15 on the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR). The Canadian was selected to the All-SEC First Team and won two tournament titles, along with six top three outings.

Fernández García-Poggio garnered honorable mention All-America recognition after an All-SEC First Team season by the junior. The Spaniard posted a 71.34 stroke average and was ranked No. 25 on Clippd and No. 37 on the WAGR. Fernández García-Poggio won the Carmel Cup this season and had six top 10 finishes.

Borovilos and Fernández García-Poggio earning WGCA All-America honors marks the fifth-straight year that a Texas A&M golfer has received the accolade, which is the longest streak in program history. The two All-Americans will compete at the Palmer Cup July 3-5 at the Tralee Golf Links in West Barrow, Ireland, for Team International.
