BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M women’s golf head coach Gerrod Chadwell announced the hiring of Allison Howarth as an Assistant Coach Monday to round out the staff.
“Allison brings a wealth of experience to our program,” Chadwell said. “From her time at Incarnate Word where she ran every facet of the program, it was easy to see that she was going to be a star. At Iowa, she was able to accomplish great things and we can’t wait to see what she does in Aggieland. During the interview process, it was clear she was incredibly driven and passionate. She loves to work; I am thrilled to get her back to Texas and join our staff.”
Howarth comes to Aggieland after spending the last three seasons as an assistant on the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s golf staff.

During the 2023-24 season, Howarth and Iowa shattered the Hawkeye 54-hole school record by 17 strokes, shooting an 847 at the Westbrook Spring Invitational. The team had the top two rounds in the Iowa record book during the 54-hole masterclass, shooting a 280 (-8) in round two before bettering it with a final round 279 (-9).
Individually, Howarth coached two players to school 54-hole records. Madison Dabagia and Paula Miranda both shot a school best 209 (-7) at the Westbrook and Dabagia matched the record again the following week, carding a 209 at the UNF Collegiate. Howarth helped mentor Dabagia to the best scoring average in program history, registering a 73.04 average by the end of the year.
With Howarth on staff, the Hawkeyes advanced to the postseason for the just the second time in program history during the 2022-23 campaign. The team accepted the opportunity to compete in the National Golf Invitational and finished runner-up and then-freshman Shannyn Vogler claimed first place at the event under Howarth’s tutelage.
Howarth joined the Iowa program following a four-year stint at the University of the Incarnate Word. She served as graduate assistant in 2017-18 before being elevated to head coach for her final three seasons in San Antonio.
During her time at UIW, the Cardinals saw an 82-spot jump in the Golfstat rankings, moving up from 205 in her first season to 123 in 2021. Incarnate Word finished third in the Golfstat rankings among the Southland Conference in her final two seasons and she coached two All-Southland Conference selections.
In her first year, the program’s scoring average dropped 10 shots and she led the team to a school record scoring average. She coached student-athletes to the top two career low rounds and the top two career scoring averages in school history.
In the classroom, each of Horwath’s teams finished with 3.47 grade point averages or higher and her 2020-21 squad posted a 3.80 team GPA. She coached four WGCA Academic All-American Scholars, two Southland Academic All-Conference selections and 20 Southland Conference Commissioner Honor Roll recipients in her three seasons as head coach.
As a player, Howarth shined at St. Mary’s University, where she led the Rattlers to a fifth-place finish at the 2017 Division II National Championships. She helped St. Mary’s to a Heartland Conference title in 2016 and a runner-up finish in 2017.
For her career, Howarth was a three-time Heartland Conference selection, earning first-team honors as a senior, and she was a three-time all-tournament selection and the league’s Freshman of the Year in 2014. The two-time Heartland Conference Player of the Week recipient was a three-time medalist, and she helped the Rattlers to five team tournament titles as a senior.
Howarth graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business and risk management from St. Mary’s in 2017 and earned her master’s degree in business administration from Incarnate Word in 2018.
