LEXINGTON – The Texas A&M volleyball team opens its three-match road trip versus No. 13 Kentucky Friday evening at Memorial Coliseum with first serve set for 6 p.m.
Following a split weekend of results, the Aggies begin a three-match road stint versus the Wildcats. A&M sits fifth in the league standings with a 6-4 record after a loss to Mississippi State, while Kentucky tops the SEC with an 8-2 ledger and carries a five-match winning streak into the fixture.
Kentucky holds a 7-3 record when playing on its home court this year, while A&M performs well on the road sitting at 5-2. This will be the Aggies fifth ranked match of the year, and third on the road in conference play. The Maroon & White have fared well versus top-25 opponents in their gym’s, claiming their last two, first at then-No. 24 Auburn (3-1) followed by at then-No. 7 Texas (3-2).
The programs have met 25 times in their history, with the Wildcats holding a five-match lead in the all-time series (15-10). Historically Kentucky has had the upper hand in the matchup when playing in Lexington (9-2), including a victory last season (3-1). The Maroon & White secured their last victory versus the Wildcats in 2022 with a 3-1 win in Reed Arena, while their last road victory came in 2019 (3-1).
A&M battled against a highly efficient Mississippi State team last time out, falling in three sets in a competitive fixture. Three Aggies reached defensive milestones in the match, as Ellee Stinson surpassed 1,250 digs, Ava Underwood 750 digs and Maddie Waak 500 digs.
