The Texas A&M system announces a board of regents committee has hired a search firm to assist in finding the next chancellor.

The system’s news release says a successor is expected to be identified before John Sharp’s last day on June 30, 2025.

The news release states the only involvement in the search by any employees or students of the system’s universities and agencies is that the search firm will interview “System leaders”.

Sharp, who took office in September 2011, is the longest serving chancellor in the system’s history.
