There’s a new radio station in town, and it is run entirely by students at Texas A&M.
With the help of Bryan Broadcasting, students in the Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications department launched Fusion FM, a divergent rock station.
Ben Downs, General Manager of Bryan Broadcasting, said their hope is to give people real-life, commercial radio experience.
“The farm team system you have in broadcasting has kind of fallen by the wayside, where you would start at a tiny station and then you would work your way up, but things have changed. Local experience just isn’t there anymore,” said Downs.
Bryan Broadcasting’s Tucker Young played a mentoring part in the creation of Fusion FM.
“Our goal is to give them the tools that they need to be able to spend their time at A&M and get the type of tape they need to market themselves, the type of connections they need to market themselves, to get themselves to the top of the pile when they’re looking for jobs,” said Young about the students.
You can listen to Fusion FM at www.radioaggieland.com or on any HD radio at 95.1-2 FM.
