Texas A&M Softball’s Perez Named SEC Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M softball’s Mya Perez has been named the SEC Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. It marks the second weekly honor for Perez and Texas A&M’s fourth of the season.

Perez slashed .786/.824/1.571 hitting 11-for-14 with three home runs, two doubles and 13 RBI, while adding eight runs in five games. Her 13 RBI last week ranked second-most in the nation, while her 11 hits were third most.

The sophomore recorded multiple hits in four games and recorded three or more RBI in three games. Perez began the week going 2-for-2 with a double, home run and a career-high six RBI night. In game two she recorded a three-hit night against North Texas with a double, while driving in three runs and scoring two.

The Corona, Calif., native capped the weekend with her first career multi-home run game to complete a non-conference series sweep over LMU. Perez finished the series 6-for-8 with two home runs, four RBI, four runs and two walks.
