Texas A&M Softball’s Dement Named SEC Player of the Week

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M softball’s KK Dement has been named the SEC Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. It marks the first career weekly honor for Dement and Texas A&M’s fifth of the season.

The freshman slashed .600/.636/1.300 hitting 6-for-10 with two home runs, one double and 10 RBI, while adding four runs in three games last week. Dement is the first Aggie freshman to earn Player of the Week recognition since Bre Warren in 2021.

Dement highlighted Texas A&M’s doubleheader sweep of No. 16 Georgia by hitting a pair of home runs, including her second grand slam of the season. The rookie registered a career-high five RBI in game one, before knocking in three more RBI and a solo jack in game two.

The Selma, Calif., native ranks third among true freshmen in the SEC with eight home runs and 18th in the country among all freshmen. Dement leads the Aggies with nine doubles, second with eight round-trippers and third with 35 RBI.

The weekly honor is A&M’s fifth SEC weekly recognition, which matches a program record in a season set by the 2024 team.
