The No. 11 Texas A&M softball team erased a six-run deficit to complete a sweep of No. 14 Mississippi State with a 10-9 win in Sunday’s series finale at Davis Diamond.

Texas A&M (34-12, 14-4 SEC) scored nine runs in the second inning to overcome a 6-0 deficit, then added an insurance run in the fourth to hold off Mississippi State (34-14, 6-12 SEC). The Aggies matched a season high with 15 hits, led by Paislie Allen’s career day. Allen went 3-for-3 with three RBI, while Mya Perez added a home run and a team-high four RBI.

Texas A&M fell behind early, allowing six runs on four hits and four free passes in the opening frame.

Ol’ Sarge’s charges responded with a nine-run second inning, highlighted by two home runs, including Perez’s grand slam and Allen’s two-run shot.

The Aggies opened the inning with three straight singles to load the bases before Kennedy Powell drove in the first run with an RBI single. Tallen Edwards followed with a walk to make it 6-2. Perez then cleared the bases with a 259-foot blast to tie the game. Micaela Wark drew a walk and was replaced by pinch runner Annsley Groce, who moved to third on consecutive wild pitches. Kelsey Mathis followed with an RBI single, and Allen capped the inning with a 248-foot two-run homer to give A&M a 9-6 lead.

After a scoreless third, the Aggies added a run in the fourth. Mathis led off with a double, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on Allen’s RBI bunt single to extend the lead to 10-6.

The Bulldogs rallied in the seventh, scoring three runs on four hits, but Peters induced a flyout to secure the 10-9 win.
