BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 6 Texas A&M team dominated Sam Houston, 10-0, in run-rule fashion, 10-0, while Emily Leavitt tossed a one-hitter Tuesday night at Davis Diamond.
Texas A&M (27-5) jumped on the Bearkats quickly as the first five Aggie batters strung together consecutive hits. Kennedy Powell led off with a single, while Amari Harper doubled and Mya Perez doubled to score Powell and Harper. Mac Barbara singled and Koko Wooley followed suit with a single to score Perez as the Aggies led 3-0 after the first.
The Aggie bats continued to stay hot in the second inning when the Maroon & White sent 11 batters to the plate to score seven runs on seven hits. After a flyout to start the frame, Kramer Eschete singled, followed by Powell reaching on a hit-by-pitch and Harper singled to load the bases. Perez cleared the bases with her first career grand slam and the team’s third of the season to make it a 7-0 lead. Barbara recorded her second hit of the night, before Wooley doubled to left center. Allie Enright scored the pair with a double to left center before advancing to third on a single from DeeDee Baldwin. KK Dement followed with a sac fly to left field to score Enright to make it a double-digit game, 10-0.
Sam Houston (17-16) mustered only one hit off Aggie starter Emily Leavitt as she etched her second win in the circle this season ending the night with five strikeouts. After the second batter of the game singled and advanced 60 feet on an error, Leavitt answered with her first strikeout of the game leaving two Bearkats stranded to end the top of the first. Leavitt continued her dominance retiring the next 12 batters to end the game.
