Texas A&M Softball Has Harper Named SEC Co-Player of the Week

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M softball’s Amari Harper has been tabbed the SEC Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

Harper started all three games in the series sweep at No. 22 Auburn, while going 5-for-7 at the dish with two home runs, five RBI, three runs and totaled a 2.464 OPS. In the series opener she made her first start of the season at first base and her first home run of the season, while matching a career-high three RBI. In game two against the Tigers, Harper made only her third start of her career in right field. The junior registered a season-high three hits, including her second home run in as many days. To wrap up the series, the Corona, Calif., native reached base in each plate appearance going 1-for-1 with a double, two hit-by-pitches and one walk.

The weekly accolade is a career first for Harper and it’s the third team honor this season after Sydney Lessentine earned SEC Freshman on the Week on March 3 and Mya Perez was named SEC Co-Player of the Week on Feb. 24.
