News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
The No. 13 Texas A&M softball team fell to No. 11 UCLA, 15-7, Sunday to conclude play at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic at Big League Dreams Complex.
Texas A&M (10-6) jumped out to a five-run lead in the second inning before UCLA (13-3) answered with multiple big frames to pull away.
The Aggies sent 10 batters to the plate in the top of the second. Frankie Vrazel opened the scoring with a two-run single up the middle, followed by Ariel Kowalewski’s RBI single to bring home Vrazel. Tallen Edwards and Micaela Wark each drew bases-loaded walks to cap the inning.
UCLA responded with six runs on three hits in the bottom of the second, including a grand slam, to take a 6-5 lead. The Bruins added eight more runs in the third on six hits, highlighted by a two-run home run, a grand slam and a solo shot.
KK Dement homered to lead off the fifth inning, while Paislie Allen singled and Kennedy Powell doubled to score Allen and make it 14-7.
UCLA added a run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single to right field to end the game in five innings. Sydney Lessentine took her first loss of the season and moved to 4-1.
