Texas A&M Softball Concludes 2026 Season in NCAA Regional Final

The No. 15 Texas A&M softball team fell to Arizona State, 9-1, Sunday afternoon in the College Station Regional at Davis Diamond, concluding the 2026 campaign with a 38-19 overall record.

Texas A&M fell behind early after surrendering a pair of crooked innings to Arizona State (44-16). The Sun Devils added four runs in the fifth inning to secure the run-rule victory and end the Aggies’ season.

The Maroon & White totaled five hits, all coming from the 6-7-8 spots in the lineup. Kelsey Mathis went 2-for-2 with one run scored, Paislie Allen finished 2-for-2 with one RBI and KK Dement added a 1-for-2 performance.

Playing as the designated visiting team, Texas A&M was retired in order in the top of the first before Arizona State capitalized in the bottom half. The Sun Devils strung together three consecutive hits, including an RBI single and added a sacrifice fly to take a 2-0 lead.

Texas A&M cut the deficit to 2-1 in the second inning. With two outs, Kelsey Mathis and KK Dement recorded singles to place runners on the corners before Paislie Allen delivered an RBI single to center field to plate Mathis.

Arizona State answered in the bottom of the second with a pair of singles before a groundout moved runners into scoring position. The Sun Devils extended their lead to 5-1 behind an RBI single, RBI double and RBI fielder’s choice. Relief pitcher Kate Munnerlyn then limited further damage with a popout and groundout.

Both teams were held scoreless through the middle innings. Texas A&M stranded runners in scoring position in both the third and fourth innings.

Arizona State ended the game in the fifth after the leadoff batter reached on a throwing error, followed by consecutive singles and a grand slam to secure the 9-1 final.

Sidne Peters (15-7) suffered the loss after yielding two runs on four hits in the opening frame. Kate Munnerlyn worked the middle innings going 3.0 allowing five earned runs on seven hits.
