Texas A&M Soccer Takes Down Ole Miss

OXFORD – Jazmine Wilkinson tallied two goals and one assist as the Texas A&M soccer team topped the Ole Miss Rebels, 4-1, Friday evening.

Wilkinson silenced the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium crowd on Senior Night with a pair of goals midway through the first half. Her goals in the 26th and 32nd minute sent Texas A&M (8-5-0, 3-2-0 SEC) into the intermission with a 2-0 lead after posting an 11-8 edge in shots.

The Aggies kept their foot on the gas coming out of the locker room. Wilkinson added her assist on a Grace Ivey goal in the 55th minute and Taylor Jernigan tacked on A&M’s final goal with 9:43 left in the match.

Ole Miss (5-9-0, 0-5-0 SEC) added a cosmetic goal on a free kick in the 85th minute.

The Maroon & White improved to 5-1-1 in matches played in Oxford and they are 10-3-2 all-time against the Rebels.

It marked Wilkinson’s second multi-goal game as an Aggie. Last season she recorded a hat trick at Tennessee.

Adysen Armenta, who has started all 35 games in her two years in Aggieland, recorded her first career point with an assist on Wilkinson’s first goal. Sydney Becerra also recorded an assist.

GOAL SUMMARY

26’ | MaKhiya McDonald got a pass to Adysen Armenta to the right corner of the penalty box. Armenta went down the edge to the endline before sending a ball across the face of the 6-yard box where Jazmine Wilkinson finished with one touch. A&M 1, OM 0.

32’ | Sydney Becerra corralled a bad pass by an Ole Miss midfielder and sent a perfectly weighted ball to Wilkinson who charged into the penalty box just left of the arc, sneaking a low driven right-footer inside the right post. A&M 2, OM 0.

55’ |.Wilkinson took a throw-in from McDonald and backed into the penalty box. A spin-move to her outside allowed her to work toward the end line where she sent a cross with Grace Ivey making the easy finish from three yards. A&M 3, OM 0.

81’ | Taylor Jernigan raced passed a defender into the box and toward the left corner of the 6-yard box, blasting a shot into the right-side netting. A&M 4, OM 0.

85’ | Katie Ramsden scored on a free kick from 19 yards out, beating the keeper to right upper 90. A&M 4, OM 1.
