TEXAS A&M QUOTES

Head Coach G Guerrieri on the team’s performance…

“I thought out back four were solid and had some big time efforts, especially considering it’s the first game they have actually played together. Hats off to Baylor. They are more of a senior-dominant team than we are. You could see their experience as they were chasing the game late and applying pressure. Our issue is we could not keep the ball, so we were on defense quite a bit. We had to defend way too much in the second half. There was a [long] spell during the game where we did not complete a pass, which is debilitating to the way you want to play. We lost this game last year, so it’s good to get a result because of a goal in the beginning. We had some great chances in the first half that we were upset about not finishing. There is a lot we can learn from. This is a game that doesn’t harm us and is something we can definitely get better from.”

Junior forward Leah Diaz On scoring the first goal of the season for the Aggies…
Honestly it’s an unreal feeling it was amazing just having my supporters and my family here. It’s just amazing. I’m speechless. I’m so excited and so happy.

On what happened on the goal and the build up to it…
“I just think we had a mindset of lets go forward and let’s take our chances. We dribbled down the line picked our head up and we saw numbers running in and I just happened to be there, and I just placed it in the corner.”

Junior defender Hattie Patterson On learning about the team with new faces…
“We had a really good spring together. It was an immediate connection between us all. The coaches have helped create such a good culture. So it’s really been an easy transition for all of us.”

UP NEXT: The Aggies return to Ellis Field for a 7:30 p.m. match Sunday against the Lamar Cardinals.
