News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Texas A&M soccer team was unable to break the scoring seal in Sunday’s SEC Tournament first round loss to the Georgia Bulldogs at Ashton Brosnaham Park.
The loss closed the book on the Aggies’ 2024 campaign with an 8-9-2 record.
Georgia scored the match’s lone goal in the 19th minute when Nicole Vernis collected a clearance by the Aggie back line. She split two defenders with a through ball to find Dasia Torbert who beat the A&M keeper from the edge of the 18-yard box.
The Aggies did not lack for opportunities to score, but Georgia netminder Jordan Brown was able to punch multiple shots over the crossbar as part of her four-save shutout.
For the seventh time on the season, the Maroon & White found themselves on the wrong end of a decision despite outshooting an opponent. This time the Aggies owned a 14-12 advantage, including 7-6 in each half. Texas A&M was unable to reap the fruits of an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.
