Texas A&M Men’s Track & Field Earns USTFCCCA Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS – The Texas A&M track & field men’s team and senior Sam Whitmarsh earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national honors, the organization announced Monday.

The Aggie men were named the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Scholar Team of the Year, as the group won the NCAA Outdoor National Championship for the fifth time in program history while boasting a cumulative GPA of 3.118. This marks the second time the men’s team received the national scholar team nod, with the first award coming after the NCAA indoor title in 2017.

Whitmarsh headlined the group, as he was tabbed as the 2025 NCAA Divisions I Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year. The senior won the 800m at the national meet, crossing the line in 1:45.86 to win his first individual NCAA title, while boasting a 3.36 GPA in materials science & engineering.

Joining the honors, the women’s team received USTFCCCA All-Academic Team status with the group holding a 3.238 GPA while also tallying an impressive third-place result at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

The Maroon & White also added 21 All-Academic Athlete awards, as 12 men and nine women earned recognition. All student-athletes that received the honor held a cumulative 3.25 GPA or higher following the conclusion of the 2025 season.
