Texas A&M Men’s Tennis Gears Up for Road Tests at Auburn

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

The No. 10 Texas A&M men’s tennis team hits the road to face No. 18 Auburn Thursday and Alabama Saturday. Thursday’s match is set for 3 p.m., while Saturday’s contest will start at 1 p.m.

The Aggies (15-7, 8-3 SEC) are coming off a dominating weekend at home, with two 4-1 wins over Arkansas and Tennessee. Sophomores Alex Frusina and Theo Papamalamis led the team, with Frusina going 4-0 across the weekend, while Papamalamis went 3-1, grabbing a ranked win over No. 18 Jakub Vrba.

Auburn (15-6, 5-5 SEC) split its past weekend, upsetting the No. 7 LSU Tigers, 5-2, before a loss to South Carolina, 4-3. The Maroon & White defeated the Tigers last season, 5-2. Papamalamis, Tiago Pires and Togan Tokac all grabbed singles points to power the win.

Alabama (10-13, 3-8 SEC) faced two conference losses this past weekend versus South Carolina, 5-2, and Ole Miss, 7-0. The duo of Tokac and Papamalamis helped grabbed the doubles point in the 4-0 sweep against the Tide last season. Tokac also won on court 6 to help earn the victory.
