Texas A&M Men’s Golf Led by Maggert at Bayou City

HOUSTON – Sophomore Jake Maggert finished the first day tied for 14th place at 4-under 140 to pace a group of four Texas A&M men’s golfers participating as individuals in the Bayou City Collegiate Classic.

Maggert carded rounds of 3-under 69 and 1-under 71 at the par-72, 7,184-yard Westwood Golf Club. He will start the final round seven strokes behind tournament co-leaders Lukas Boandl of Rice and Noah McWilliams of LSU who own 11-under 133 tallies.

In the second round, Jack Usner fired a bogeyless circuit with five birdies for a career-best 5-under 67. He ended the day tied for 27th place at 1-under 143.

Alex Long made his collegiate debut with rounds of 71 and 73 to sit at even 144, tied for 35th place. Dallas Hankamer rounded out the group at 155.

The foursome starts Tuesday’s final round from hole No. 1 starting with tee times at 7:30 a.m.
