Texas A&M Men’s Golf Contends for SEC Championship at Sea Island Golf Club

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

The No. 30 Texas A&M Aggies battle for the conference title at the SEC Men’s Golf Championship contested Wednesday through Sunday at Sea Island Golf Club.

This marks the ninth consecutive time the SEC Championship features both stroke and match play on Sea Island Golf Club’s par-70, 7,005-yard Seaside Course. The tournament opens with three rounds of stroke play. The top eight teams advance to match play with the quarterfinals and semifinals contested Saturday and the championship round played Sunday.

The Aggies are looking for their first SEC Championship title. Texas A&M has finished runner-up on three occasions, including 2016 – the last year stroke play determined the champion – along with 2017 and 2025 – when match play decided the victor. Texas A&M has advanced to the bracket all eight years the tournament has included match play. The Maroon & White are the only team to reach the semifinals at each of the last six championships.

For the eight straight year, the final match play round will be televised on SEC Network. The semifinal round streams on SEC Network+.

The Aggies ended their regular season placing third carding an 8-under 832 over three rounds at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate. Jaime Montojo led the way for Texas A&M. He was tied for eighth at 4-under 206. Montojo closed strong with a 1-under 69 final round to secure his second top 10 in the last three tournaments. The Maroon & White look to carry this momentum into the SEC Championship.

Texas A&M has penciled in a formidable lineup with Aaron Pounds, Wheaton Ennis, Shiv Parmer and Kris Kuvaas joining Montojo in Wednesday’s lineup. Alex Long will be a substitute for the tournament.

The SEC field is loaded with talented teams this year with Auburn ranked as the number one team in the country and four other schools placed within the top 10 and 11 teams total in the top 25.

Texas A&M tees off Wednesday’s action beginning at 8:15 a.m. The Aggies are grouped with Alabama, Georgia and Oklahoma starting from hole No. 1.
