News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M’s Wade Taylor IV was named to the SEC Community Service Team for men’s basketball for the 2024-25 season, the league office announced on Thursday.
In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, 2024-25 marks the 27th year for the SEC Community Service Team for men’s basketball.
Taylor, a graduate from Dallas, Texas, has made the most of his opportunities and his platform to give back through the 4 Wade Taylor Foundation. He founded the nonprofit organization to empower youth through programs focused on mental health, leadership development, and financial literacy.
Last fall, Taylor’s foundation provided nearly 500 gloves and hats to the Twin City Mission in Bryan, Texas in preparation for colder months to come. Last summer, the foundation hosted its second annual backpack drive in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of the Brazos Valley.
An involved student, Taylor was a 2024 recipient of the prestigious Buck Weirus Spirit Award from the Association of Former Students, which honors students who demonstrate high involvement, create positive experiences throughout the Aggie community, impact student life at Texas A&M and enhance the Aggie Spirit. A three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, Taylor earned his undergraduate degree in University Studies in three years and is currently pursuing his master’s in applied youth development. A two-time first-team All-SEC and SEC All-Tournament selection, he is the owner of 15 season or career records at Texas A&M and within range of many other school and SEC Tournament records.
Taylor served as the Chief Business Officer for B.L.U.E.Print where he has developed and implemented the overall business strategy for the organization while making sure it is aligned with its mission and goals. A student-athlete led organization, B.L.U.E is an acronym for Black Leaders who Undertake Excellence.
He has served in a leadership role as a member of Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and sought to articulate the perspectives and needs of student-athletes in discussions and decision-making related to Texas A&M Athletics.
