BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men’s basketball team (18-5 overall/7-3 vs. SEC) opens a two-game homestand with 8 p.m. matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs on Tuesday at Reed Arena.

  • All 14 meetings between the Aggies and Bulldogs have come as members of the SEC with the M&W holding a 9-5 series advantage.
  • Since losing the first four meetings, the Aggies have won nine of the last 10 bouts, including five in a row.
  • Under Buzz Williams, the Aggies are 5-1 with five straight victories.
  • Texas A&M holds a 5-2 lead in games at Reed Arena, with five straight wins.

 

PROMOTIONS ON TUESDAY

  • Baseball Team Pregame Autographs: The baseball team will be set up at the North entry on the concourse from 7-8 PM signing autographs.
  • Maroon Out Shirt Giveaway: Available at each entry point for the first 3,000 fans to the game.
  • Educator Appreciation YETI Package: Fans can pre-purchase a custom “Aggie Teacher” YETI tumbler and game ticket for $40. Tumblers to be picked up in pregame Fan Zone.

RARE HOME STAND: The Aggies’ mini-home stand vs. UGa and ARK marks the first time the team has played back-to-back home games in the same week since hosting Lamar and OSU in the second week of the 2024-25 season.

Heading into the home stand, the Aggies have played more games away from Reed Arena (12) than on their home court (11).

RANKED ROAD WINS: The win over No. 15 MIZZ (2/8) was the Aggies’ sixth road AP Top 25 victory in the Buzz Williams era, which matches A&M’s number of ranked road wins in the 40 seasons before his arrival.

It was also A&M’s sixth AP Top 25 win of the season, which is a school record.

SHOOTERS SHOOT: The Aggies average 5.9 more shots/game than their opponents in SEC play, which ranks No. 2 among league schools.

Texas A&M averages 59.4 FGA per SEC game, while limiting its league opponents to 53.5, which is the lowest average in the conference.

ONCE A WEAKNESS: The Aggies are averaging 25.8 defensive rebounds over their last six games, which is third-best in the SEC. Through the first four games of the SEC schedule, the M&W averaged just 21.8 defensive boards (13th among SEC schools).

PAYNE GAIN: Since Minnesota transfer Pharrell Payne re-entered the starting lineup, the Aggies are 3-0, and he’s averaging 12.7 points and 6.0 rebounds in 25:41 minutes/game. He’s also drawn 12 fouls in that span.

CHAIRMEN OF THE BOARDS: Texas A&M ranks No. 1 nationally in offensive rebounds (16.1), No. 7 in total rebounds (41.3) and No. 6 in rebound margin (9.5).

BIG HEN: Henry Coleman III became the 35th player in school history to log 16 or rebounds in a game when he tallied his career high vs. MIZZ. Also in the 16-Rebound Club are his teammate Anderrson Garcia, and TAMU Radio Network analyst, Dr. John Thornton (17 vs. Baylor, 2/24/74).

SUM OF PARTS: Texas A&M is one of four SEC teams averaging more than 40.0 rebounds/G for the full season (No. 3 with 41.3/G) without a single individual ranked among the league’s top 20 rebounders. Solomon Washington is the Aggies’ top rebounder at 5.6/G (No. 23).

FREEBIES: The Aggies are 13-1 when hitting least 65% of their FTA and 5-4 when connecting on less than 65%.Similarly, the Aggies are 14-3 when they earn 20 or more FTA.

The Aggies logged their program-record sixth win over an AP Top 25 opponent with the 67-64 win over No. 15 Missouri (2/8), breaking the old record of five by Shelby Metcalf’s 1978-79 team that tallied ranked victories over No. 10 Indiana, No. 15 UNLV, No. 19 San Francisco, No. 11 Kentucky and No. 11 Arkansas.

  • The Aggies’ six ranked wins are tied for third-most among all D1 schools (All SEC schools actually).
