No. 7 Texas A&M fell to No. 10 Miami, 10-3, in a defensive slugfest at Kyle Field on Saturday to conclude its season in the College Football Playoff first round.
The Aggie defense held Miami’s offense to just 12 first downs and a mere 3-of-12 on third down conversations while outgaining the Hurricanes 326-278 in total offense but were outrushed 175-89 and had three key turnovers that proved to be the difference in the match.
Senior cornerback Will Lee III, junior safety Dalton Brooks and junior linebacker Daymion Sanford each tallied seven tackles to lead the Maroon & White on defense. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Marcel Reed completed 25-of-39 pass attempts for 237 yards, while adding 27 yards on the ground. Sophomore receiver Mario Craver led all wideouts with 92 yards on seven receptions.
