Texas A&M Equestrian Collects Five All-SEC Honors

BIRMINGHAM – The Texas A&M equestrian team collected five All-SEC honors and Lauren Hanson was named the SEC Rider of the Year for Reining, as the league announced its awards for the 2024-25 season Monday afternoon.

The Aggies were represented by Isabelle Gonzalez (Reining), Mattie Gustin (Reining), Hanson, Hanna Olaussen (Horsemanship) and Devon Thomas (Flat) on the All-SEC teams.

Hanson, a 2024-25 Ariat First Team All-American, has logged an 11-4 record to go along with three MOP honors and a 69.3 scoring average in her senior season. The Clements, California, native registered a 6-2 mark against SEC foes and a 5-2 record on the road. The senior enters the NCEA National Championship with a win in six of her last seven rides.

Hanson is the second Aggie in program history to earn SEC Rider of the Year honors for Reining, joining Ariana Gray in 2023.

Gonzalez picked up All-SEC honors for the first time in her career after totaling a 9-5-1 record to go along with a 4-2-1 mark on the road for the Maroon & White. Against No. 8 South Carolina, the sophomore scored a career-high 72 en route to her lone MOP honor of the season. In her 15 rides, Gonzalez has totaled a 68.7 scoring average.

Gustin earned her second straight All-SEC selection after compiling a 10-3-2 record to go along with a 70.7 scoring average. The Aledo, Texas, native has tallied three MOP honors this season and an average win margin of 1.9. Gustin was brilliant against SEC competition during the year, racking up a 6-1-1 record.

For the third time in her career, Olaussen garnered All-SEC honors in Horsemanship after registering an 8-5-2 mark to go along with a 73.7 scoring average and a 2.1 average win margin. The senior also logged a 4-2-2 record against SEC foes and a 3-3-1 mark on the road. In a road contest at No. 8 South Carolina, Olaussen logged MOP honors after scoring a 74.75 on Brady.

Thomas led Texas A&M with an 11-3-1 record in Flat, including a 5-2-1 mark against SEC foes. The fifth-year senior has logged an average score of 79.5 on the year to go along with a 3.4 average win margin. Over her last 12 meets, the fifth-year senior has compiled a 10-1-1 record.

Thomas, who serves as the Vice President of Selfless Service for the Texas A&M Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, also earned a spot on the SEC Community Service team for the second straight season. In her role, the fifth-year senior organizes most of the service projects for student-athletes. Thomas also oversees the planning and organization with local schools and teachers for REVved Up to Read, a reading program for second grade students.

In addition, the Millburn, New Jersey, native has volunteered at the critical care unit at St. Joseph, TAMU Build, BCS Together Fall Festival and Aggieland Humane Society.
