Texas A&M Baseball Tames Tigers to Claim Fourth Straight SEC Series

News release from Texas A&M Athletics: 

No. 10 Texas A&M secured its fourth consecutive SEC series win, topping LSU, 7-2, Saturday afternoon from Alex Box Stadium.

Offensively, the Aggies (30-7, 11-5) belted 10 hits and drew five walks. Each hitter in the starting lineup reached base safely for the second consecutive game.

Aiden Sims (7-0) logged his fourth quality start of the season and secured his fourth win in conference play after dealing 7.0 innings of two-run ball. The righty struck out six and suffered just three hits and two walks. Clayton Freshcorn closed the last 2.0 innings in scoreless fashion, striking out a pair.

Texas A&M claimed the early lead in the second inning on a Jorian Wilson RBI single. Bear Harrison lined a two-run homer 368 feet to left field, leaving the bat at 109 miles per hour. The Tigers (23-17, 6-11) spotted a run in the bottom half with a solo homer to make it a 3-1 game.

Gavin Grahovac led off the third inning with a long ball to left field. Caden Sorrell and Chris Hacopian followed with consecutive hits and Jake Duer brought a run home with a sacrifice fly. The Maroon & White scratched another run across in the fifth inning on a Hacopian sacrifice fly to take a 6-1 advantage.

LSU added a run in the bottom of the fifth, but the Aggies matched the score in the sixth inning on a Grahovac RBI single, sealing the final score at 7-2.
