Texas A&M Baseball Hosts Tarleton in Midweek Action

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M baseball team looks to remain red hot as they host Tarleton in midweek action Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

Tuesday’s contest will be broadcast on SECN+ and can be heard locally on SportsRadio 1150 AM/93.7 The Zone. Fans can also follow along with the series through live stats or on X, @AggieBaseball.

Tuesday’s midweek marks the seventh meeting all-time between the Aggies (20-15) and the Texans (15-22). The Maroon & White are a perfect 6-0 against Tarleton after claiming last season’s meeting at Blue Bell Park by a score of 10-6. In midweek action, Texas A&M has won six straight.

The Aggies will send right-hander Gavin Lyons to the mound Tuesday night. The freshman owns a 2-0 record to go along with a 0.84 ERA in 10.2 innings of work. Lyons will be making his third consecutive midweek start for the Maroon & White and will be opposed by right-hander Parrish Beagle.

Texas A&M is coming off its first SEC series sweep of the season after registering the largest come-from-behind victory in Olsen Field history in the finale against South Carolina. The Aggies capped the 10-run comeback with a pair of grand slams in the ninth, becoming the 25th team in NCAA history to record two grand slams in an inning and the third since at least 1990 to do it in the ninth.

The victory marked the sixth straight for the Maroon & White. During the streak, the Aggies have scored 80 runs to go along with 15 doubles and 18 home runs. Bear Harrison (.450) and Caden Sorrell (.476) have led the way for Texas A&M as the duo has combined for eight home runs and 27 RBI.

On the mound, the Aggies rank second nationally in walks allowed per nine (2.78), fourth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.38), 13th in WHIP (1.23) and 19th in shutouts (3). Offensively, the Maroon & White sit 18th nationally in home runs with 58.
