Texas A&M Baseball Has Trio of Aggies Named to MLB Opening Day Rosters

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – With the 2025 Major League Baseball season set to begin Thursday, a trio of Texas A&M Aggies have been named to Opening Day rosters.

The Maroon & White will be represented by Bryce Miller (Seattle Mariners), A.J. Minter (New York Mets) and Michael Wacha (Kansas City Royals). All three have prior MLB experience, led by Wacha, who is entering his 13th season at the big-league level.

Bryce Miller | SP | Seattle Mariners

For the second straight season, Miller will break camp as a member of the Mariners rotation. In 2024, the right-hander logged a 12-8 record, 2.94 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP in 31 starts for Seattle. Miller also struck out 171 batters in 180.1 innings of work and held opponents to a .200 batting average. For his career, Miller holds a 20-15 record to go along with a 3.52 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP in 56 starts.

The righty is slated to make his first start of the 2025 campaign on Saturday against the Athletics.

A.J. Minter | RP | New York Mets

Minter is entering his ninth MLB season and first with the Mets after signing with the club in the offseason. In an injury-shortened 2024 campaign, Minter registered a 5-4 record, nine holds and one save in 39 appearances. The left-hander recorded a 2.62 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP, while holding opponents to a .198 batting average. In 34.1 innings of work, Minter struck out 35 batters to 11 walks.

Throughout his career, Minter has compiled a 3.28 ERA, 422 strikeouts, 114 holds and 36 saves in 384 appearances.

Michael Wacha | SP | Kansas City Royals

Wacha opens his second season with the Royals after posting a 13-8 record and a 3.35 ERA in 29 starts during the 2024 campaign. The right-hander also struck out 145 batters in 166.2 innings of work and held opponents to a .246 batting average. In his career, Wacha has compiled a 101-62 record to go along with a 3.89 ERA and 1,290 strikeouts in 278 appearances.

The former Aggie is scheduled to make his first start of the 2025 season on Sunday against the Cleveland Guardians.
