The No. 23 Texas A&M dropped the middle game of the series with No. 7 Georgia, 8-2, Saturday afternoon from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Bulldogs (20-4, 4-1) drilled six home runs in the contest to power past the Aggies (17-5, 1-4). Jordy Oriach opened the scoring with a solo shot to right field in the second inning. Georgia extended its lead to 3-0 in the top of the third behind back-to-back homers from Tre Phelps and Daniel Jackson.
Texas A&M responded in the bottom half of the frame with a Caden Sorrell RBI double, cutting the Bulldogs’ edge to two runs.
Kolby Branch got the run back for Georgia in the fourth inning with a solo shot to left-center field.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Maroon & White made it a two-run ballgame on an RBI groundout from Chris Hacopian.
The Bulldogs pushed across four runs in the top of the sixth behind a pair of homers and an RBI single, sealing the final score at 8-2.
Weston Moss (3-2) suffered his second loss of the season after allowing four earned runs on five hits in 3.1 innings pitched. The righty punched out four batters and issued one walk. Gavin Lyons relieved Moss in the fourth inning, conceding three runs on four hits in 2.0 innings pitched. Hunter Vincent entered next but could only record one out before allowing one run and two walks. The Aggies’ most effective reliever was Grant Cunningham, who worked the final 3.1 innings in scoreless fashion, striking out two.
