HOUSTON (AP) _ A high school student who told police his mother was too strict faces a capital murder charge over allegations that he hired a classmate to kill the woman.
Danish Moazzam Minhas came home the morning of Nov. 25 to find his 43-year-old mother, Tabassum Kham, fatally stabbed.
Houston homicide detectives said Wednesday their investigation determined Minhas, 17, hired Nur J. Mohamed to kill her. Police say both teens have confessed to their roles in the slaying.
Minhas told authorities he wanted his mother dead because she was too controlling. Mohamed, 18, told police Minhas paid him to kill her.
Prosecutors said the teens did not yet have attorneys because they hadn’t made initial court appearances.
