Someone described as a frequent customer of a College Station liquor store is accused of driving her SUV into the business, then leaving without reporting the crash or offering aid to an injured store employee.
This took place Tuesday night at the Western Beverages store at 2205 Longmire, south of Harvey Mitchell Parkway.
According to the arrest report, 48 year old Carolyn Moore of College Station told police she had changed her mind about going in the store. She thought she had her vehicle in reverse instead of drive when she hit the accelerator.
When asked why she left the scene, according to the arrest report Moore stated that she was too scared and fled.
The store clerk told police she was working a few feet from the front window and in the direct path of the SUV when it came crashing through.
The employee said she was in pain after being struck in the head by falling debris. She was transported to College Station Medical Center for treatment of a concussion and multiple bruises.
The investigating officer found hundreds of liquor bottles on the floor where the SUV entered, along with broken glass from the windows and a window frame lying on the ground inside the store.
Another officer recognized the description of the driver and the vehicle and went to Moore’s apartment, where the SUV was found.
In addition to body damage and debris from the store, the vehicle had a white price tag from a bottle of vodka stocked at the store.
As of Wednesday morning, Moore remained in the Brazos County Jail in lieu of $12,000 bond.
