Suspicious Package Causes Problems at El Paso Airport

EL PASO, Texas (AP) _ Officials evacuated a baggage check area at El Paso International before determining a suspicious item was no threat.

A passenger associated with the item. a Montana resident, was interviewed and released.

Just after 7 a.m. Sunday, a bag being checked in by a passenger at the Delta Airlines baggage check was found to have the suspicious item, according to a news release issued by the city of El Paso.

El Paso airport officers were unable to determine what it was, and the police bomb squad was notified.

The baggage area was reopened by about 10:30 a.m. Some passengers had to be rescheduled on other flights, due to delays stemming from the incident.
