Susan Ballabina’s first day as Texas A&M’s 28th president included posting her first online message at president.tamu.edu.
Among other things, Ballabina wrote “I know the past several years have not been easy, but Texas A&M has continued to move forward because of your strength and commitment to each other and our special mission. My focus is to help us continue that progress with steadiness, transparency and a clear sense of purpose.”
As A&M approaches its 150th anniversary, Ballabina wrote “My commitment is to stay directly engaged across the university as part of our regular work and provide clarity on our direction. My expectation is that we remain closely connected, well-informed and focused on our mission. We have important work ahead and strong momentum across the university. And if we stay aligned and disciplined, we will continue to move Texas A&M forward for the next 150 years.”
She also said after the board of regents named her sole finalist, she formed a transition team that was led by retired vice president of student affairs Tom Reber that “worked quickly with deans, cabinet members and affiliate organizations to gather input, identify key priorities and make plans for early and regular engagement with the university community. That work has been practical and focused, and it has positioned us to move forward immediately.”
Ballabina also announced her selections for senior staff in the office of the president.
