Sunday Night Storms Also Cause Power Outages

Sunday night’s much needed rainfall came at a price for more than 900 College Station residents and businesses.

Two power lines went down, resulting in blackouts lasting for some as long as four hours for between 70-80 customers where electricity could not be redirected.

College Station Utilities sent two bucket trucks to get on both ends of an overhead line that had burned off in the middle of a section due to a lightning strike.

The longest outages affected those living in the Edelweiss Gartens and Southern Trace neighborhoods.

Passing storms also took down a power line near Rock Prairie and Longmire, affecting the Kroger shopping center.

Rainfall at Easterwood Airport through 11:00 p.m. Sunday measured 1.81 inches.
