Study Shows Too Much Tobacco Advertising at Local C-Stores

Part of summer vacation for high school students from Robertson County was visiting convenience stores in Bryan/College Station. Gina Neuendorff of the Brazos Valley Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse said a study was done of the advertising tobacco companies place in C-stores.

All but two of the 18 stores received a “D” or “F” on tobacco advertising. The study takes into account not only the volume but the placement of the advertising.

Neuendorff says she was surprised there was more advertising of alcoholic beverages than tobacco products at convenience stores.
