The Texas State Fire Marshal’s office has released its findings in the investigation of the Knights of Columbus Hall fire in Bryan that killed two firefighters and critically injured two other firemen.

Bryan Fire Chief Randy McGregor has scheduled a news conference Wednesday afternoon at 2. He and Lt. Dean Shirley from the State Fire Marshal’s office are scheduled to speak and take questions.
College Station police is investigating a crash Thursday morning (October 31) near Wellborn and Fitch which ended when a car went through a backyard and struck a duplex on Oldenburg Lane. A post on CSPD’s Facebook page says a man and two children were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A dog in the backyard died. Comments on CSPD’s Facebook post includes one from the dog’s owner, who said their four and a half month old puppy was buried under rubble by the back door and died from internal bleeding. The dog’s owner also wrote that in addition to losing their “fur baby”, they lost “our home and our motorcycle all in a flash.” The CSPD post said the duplex sustained major structural damage. A CSPD spokesman tells WTAW News that no one inside the duplex was injured.
A Bryan police officer finds more than nine pounds of marijuana and almost $7,000 dollars in cash in a car following a traffic stop. The BPD arrest report says the officer saw the car on the freeway travelling too close to a pickup. Then the car accelerated to 90 miles per hour before exiting the freeway and stopping in the parking lot of a convenience store off Woodville Road. After the officer smelled marijuana coming out of the car through the open sunroof, that led to the search of the driver and his car. The money was found in the driver’s pants pocket and nine bags of marijuana with a total weight of 9 pounds and 7.55 ounces were inside a trash bag in the backseat. A BPD spokesman tells WTAW News the value of the marijuana is at least $10,000 dollars. 37 year old Christopher Paul Young Jr. of Bryan was arrested for felony possession of marijuana and possessing a vape pen containing THC. Young was arrested while out on bond awaiting trial on a charge of possessing of a controlled substance in July 2023. He was released from his 30th jail booking since September 2006 after posting bonds totaling $20,000 dollars.
A man who admitted to assaulting a Bryan police officer during a traffic stop in September 2021 is headed to prison. Online court records show 32 year old Issac Allen of Texas City entered a plea agreement where he admitted to among other things, not completing required programs, failing to show up for required drug and alcohol testing, using marijuana, and not paying fees. Allen, who was placed on ten years community supervision in March of 2022, was sentenced October 23rd to three years in prison. The Bryan police arrest report says the traffic stop was made for someone driving a car with expired registration. Officers learned Allen was wanted on two warrants on misdemeanor charges that were filed in 2018. It took three officers to place Allen into custody. One officer was punched hard enough in elbow to make a smacking sound.
