State Designation For College Station’s First City Park

The first park in the city of College Station is now a member of an exclusive group.

Recognition was given at the last city council meeting for Brison Park being designated as one of 64 Lone Star Legacy Parks by the Texas Recreation and Parks Society.

The proclamation noted the Southside neighborhood development corporation created what was originally known as Dexter Park in 1921, then named in 1980 in honor of Fred Brison, a community advocate and a nationally renowned horticulture professor.
