Those in charge of restoring the historic Queen Theater in downtown Bryan announced Friday the start of the final construction phase.
Sandy Farris of the Downtown Bryan Association (DBA) says January is the targeted grand opening.
Officials also announced there will be a programming focus will be on classic films, as the Queen will continue to be available as a public and private event facility.
The Queen will also be home to the DBA and possibly a downtown Bryan visitor’s center.
The Queen opened as a hotel in the late 1880’s and was a movie theater from 1914 until the 1970’s.
Restoration efforts are now in their seventh year, after the DBA acquired the building.
