FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) _ Officials at Fort Hood say a soldier has died in his barracks room from a cause presently unknown.

The Fort Hood public affairs office said Monday that Pfc. Jason Paul Gambles was found dead by a fellow soldier on Saturday. He was identified as being from Omaha, Neb.

Gambles, 25, entered the military in 2007. He had been assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division since March 2008. His awards and decorations included the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service ribbon.

Officials said the death is under investigation. At least three unexplained deaths have occurred this year at the Central Texas post, home to about 52,000 soldiers.
