A test of new computer software at College Station Utilities earlier this week resulted in a freeze on bank accounts for about five percent of its customer base.
Chief Financial Officer Jeff Kersten says during the test, almost 1,600 customers were charged a second time for November bills. That meant banks were electronically notified to place a hold on customers accounts.
Kersten says affected customers were notified by e-mail and those who want those bank holds removed can contact the utilities office, who in turn will notify the financial institutions.
