Sleeping Boy Left on East Texas Bus

LONGVIEW, Texas (AP) _ The parents of a 4-year-old special needs boy say they won’t let him ride the school bus again after he was forgotten on board for hours.

The Spring Hill Independent School District in Longview said Tuesday that undisclosed disciplinary action will be taken against the driver.

KLTV-TV reports the boy, who turns 5 in August, was bound for special education classes Monday morning.

Superintendent Wes Jones says the child apparently fell asleep and the driver did not notice the boy when she parked in the bus barn after the morning route. The driver found the child when returning to get the bus for her route Monday afternoon.

Shermane Persley says he is upset that his son, Shermane Jr., was without food, water or a restroom. Persley says the driver has apologized.
