Multiple Texas A&M football standouts have been named to national award preseason “watch lists” as the Aggies gear up for the 2016 season.
Seeing their names appear on the prestigious lists so far this summer were seniors Avery Gennesy and Daeshon Hall, juniors Myles Garrett and Armani Watts, sophomore Christian Kirk and graduate transfer Trevor Knight.
Gennesy, an offensive tackle from Southaven, Miss., was named to the Outland Trophy (best interior lineman) watch list, while Hall, a defensive end from Seattle, Wash., was honored by the Bednarik Award (nation’s most outstanding defensive player) and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy (defensive player of the year).
Garrett, a defensive end from Arlington, Texas, earned recognition from the Bednarik and the Nagurski, and Watts, a junior safety from Forney, Texas, was on the Bednarik list.
Kirk, a wide receiver from Scottsdale, Ariz., and Knight, a quarterback from San Antonio, Texas, earned preseason kudos from the Maxwell Award, which is given annually to the college player of the year.
