Bydgoszcz, Poland – Texas A&M junior Ioannis Kyriazis produced a silver medal performance in the javelin on Saturday as he represented Greece in the European Under-23 Championships. His best effort measured 265 feet, 10 inches (81.04).
It marks the second silver medal this summer for Kyriazis, who also finished second with a throw of 283-3 (86.33) at the European Team Championships held in Lille, France, during June.
Kyriazis finished with a best of 265-10 from the sixth and final round during the European U23 meet, trailing the winning mark of 272-7 (83.08) by Hungary’s Norbet Rivasz-Toth, who established a national record in the second round.
A third round toss of 262-2 (79.91) moved Kyriazis into second place and he improved to 265-7 (80.96) in the fifth round.
