Rivers Reopen

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (AP) _ The Comal River and the Guadalupe River have reopened for recreation about two weeks after strong storms led to flooding that swamped some areas.

New Braunfels Mayor Bruce Boyer on Thursday announced the reopening of the rivers.

A statement from the city says the rivers and affected parks in New Braunfels have undergone extensive cleanup since June 9 flooding, but the public should be alert to the potential of more debris.

Rebuilding of a footbridge between Prince Solms Park and Hinman Island should be completed within the coming week, temporarily requiring tubers to walk down Hinman Island Drive from Prince Solms Park to enter the Comal River.
